the parents check daily. The parents then de- ';
cide what the child will receive as a result of ';
@2 behavior. Things like trips with parents, ';
prizes, and activities are determined in this ';
manner. They always notice anything done right.';

determing the importance of things to @1 . ';

They often present @1 with problems, challenges ';
and tasks that have a teaching purpose. They ';
encourage the child to get involved with them ';

at any time. They focus on the positive and ';
convey the sense that they are pleased with all ';
the positive progress being made, no matter how ';
small that progress might be. They do not even ';
have to be involved, these positive comments ';
come even when they hear of anything good. ';

This child's parents focus on rewarding all be- ';
havior that demonstrates that the child did what';
@3 was told or was obedient to those in ';
authority. ';

They make use of a wide variety of rewards and ';
often allow teachers or friends to give out the ';
rewards if and when the child does something ';
he was told to do. In fact, greater rewards are';
available for obedience without hesitation. ';

behavior at home. ';

The better the behavior @3 shows at home, the ';
more @3 can be with others. This even applies ';
to being with the family. When @2 behavior ';
is acceptable @3 has total freedom to be with ';
the family and to take part in all of the things';
that the family is doing. The parents make sure';
that behaving means belonging. ';
